Microsoft Persuading HTC To Cherish Windows Phones

Bangalore: Microsoft is reportedly having talks with HTC about adding Windows Phone OS to HTC’s Android based Smartphones at little or no cost in an effort to gain more ground in mobile market, reports Bloomberg citing the sources who are close with the developments.

According to the reports, Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft’s operating systems unit, has asked HTC last month to load Windows Phone OS as a second option on the company’s Smartphones running Google’s Android OS. Myerson has also said to be discussed cutting or eliminating the license fee to make the idea more attractive. However, the talks are yet in preliminary round and no decision has been made.

HTC was the first company that offered handsets running Windows Phone and Android respectively. But the Taiwanese Smartphone maker has not unveiled any WP based mobiles since June, and did not layout any plans for future launches.
