Marissa Mayer Is Working On This Revolutionary Change To Yahoo.com
Bangalore: Marissa Mayer was indeed, a blessing than a CEO to Yahoo employees. She offered them free food, free Smartphones, raised their packages and a lot more. But for people who doubt whether the CEO is more indulged in employee benefits than the company, here is the hot news. Marissa Mayer, at this very moment, is working on a major overhaul of the Yahoo homepage.
However, according to Business Insider, the new homepage is not going to come out any time soon, since Mayer has not taken some basic decisions. But the sources pointed that the home page would more be like Google and Facebook, Featuring social contents, news feeds and will have an open API for developers to make apps for Yahoo’s 170 million users.
She intend to make the home page like a “platform,” said the sources.
“It would be Google-like in the sense that users will go there in order to find links that will take them somewhere else. The hope is that they will come back for more. It would be Facebook-like in that it might prominently feature a ‘News Feed,’ an element of Web design that has become a staple of modern Web sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Quora,” quoted Business Insider from the sources close to matter.
However, the employees at the company have different opinions on Mayer’s decision since, the home page currently points to Yahoo’s products only, inviting revenue for them. And if it starts to link to external sites, the revenues will eventually go down. But the employees are more excited about it since they have common stand on a need for modernization of the site.
Anyway, along with the Yahoo employees, the entire tech world is waiting to see what magic Mayer, a new mom, can do to rejuvenate the ailing giant.
