Bangalore: Yahoo recently took the tech-world to a surprise when it chose a pregnant lady as its new CEO. More astonishing was this that Yahoo was able to scoop her away from Google, where she had worked for 13 years. Coming from Google, the new CEO is all hands on to transform Yahoo on the lines of her previous employer.

According to AllThingsD’s Kara Swisher, some of the initial changes Mayer has made at Yahoo’s Sunnyvale, CA, headquarters, are a weekly meeting on every Friday afternoon which will include the whole company and free lunch at the company’s cafe. The café previously used to sell egg white muffin sandwiches for $3.65 and teriyaki chicken paninis for $5.31. Google is known for doing both of these things to boost employee morale and remove the communication gap between them. Mayer is also pushing Yahoo’s engineers to improve Yahoo’s core products, including e-mail, Flickr and search.
