Well Smartphone got many miles to travel before it could double, but Motorala couldn’t have waited till then. It announced the Atrix 4G, the futuristic pod which gets animated as computer when a Smartphone gets plugged in. Eventually the technology will blow up, and certainly not now.
#4 High Definition Digital Video Discs
Year it was supposed to blow: 2006
High-Definition/Density Digital Video Disk or simply referred as HD DVD. It was an optical disk for storing data and high definition videos, supported first by Toshiba, and heralded as the successor to the standard DVD. However the fame didn’t last long. Blu-ray beat HD-DVD with its superior high definition disk. It is very evident from the decreased sales of HD-DVD, the reason may vary from low number of 3D television sets; people prefer to download the movies; DVD players vouching for grater clarity with old DVD format; or simply why go for HD-DVD over Blu-ray.
