10 Moves Mayer Should Make to Save Yahoo!

10 Moves Mayer Should Make to Save Yahoo!

Bangalore: It came as a surprise when Yahoo! announced Marissa Mayer as its new CEO. It was a bold move for the struggling company considering Mayer has been working in Google for 13 years. An ex-employee of Yahoo!, Sriram Krishnan compiles on his personal site, the things which Marissa can do to bring Yahoo! back to the top. In a short stint at Yahoo!, he has seen both the best and the worst of the company. Let’s have a look on what this ex-engineering manager has to say:

1. Supporting the opinion of American entrepreneur and VC Marc Andreessen, he says that the new CEO should fire 10,000 people, especially from the HR department and the ones with ‘Architect’ or ‘Program Manager’ in their title.

2. Strengthen your engineering team by hiring young talented engineers and product managers, removing the old ones. Even if it requires you to pay five times more than what Google or Facebook could pay them, do it. This will be better than paying 5 employees who are currently extracting salary without helping the company grow.
