Zepto's 'Miss you, says i-Pill' text to Bengaluru women - Internet gets Angry!
Zepto, the fast commerce behemoth led by Adit Palicha, has come under fire for emailing a client an inappropriate and unsolicited marketing message.
Pallavi Pareek, a female user, received a notification that said, "I-pill Emergency Contraceptive pill says I miss you, Pallavi."
In her Linkedin poinst, Pallavi expressed her anger by stating, “I have never ordered an emergency pill from you. Even if I did, you should understand that this is not something I should be missing.” She also questioned, “Do you want me to need an emergency contraceptive?”
"Messaging is appropriate only if it is sensitive, humorous, or logical. I draw the line when notifications become flirty or sleazy. But this is a little too much”, Pallavi stated.
According to Pallavi's LinkedIn biography, she is the Founder and CEO of UNGENDER, a company that has helped over a thousand workplaces and their executives negotiate challenging regulatory landscapes and create inclusive cultures.
Zepto apologized in response to the substantial attention her tweet received, stating that the remark was "thoughtless and perhaps destructive."
Users were also given the assurance by the corporation that prompt action had been taken, which included retraining their staff and updating their processes.
Pareek, a practitioner in the field of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and workplace harassment prevention, noted that Zepto's messaging was insensitive and unethical.
Even though Pareek expressed her concerns, it was evident that she is still a fan of Zepto's services because she said she "loves the app" and frequently uses fast commerce platforms in her daily life.
Her intention was not to disparage the product or its availability, but rather to draw attention to the issue of irresponsible messaging.
"I love Zepto as an app. They are a huge backbone to my life considering I rely heavily on such apps to place orders. This post is to highlight the flaw in mindless logic and copy and not against i-pill promo or availability," Pallavi added.
