Swiggy plans to welcome ex Flipkart executive Amitesh Jha as Instamart head

Swiggy, a major in the food tech industry - is currently engaged in advanced discussions with Amitesh Jha, who formerly held the position of Senior Vice President at Flipkart. The purpose of these talks is for Jha to assume leadership responsibilities as he heads up Swiggy's quick commerce business Instamart.

According to sources familiar with the matter cited in Arc's report, Swiggy Instamart CEO Phani Kishan Addepalli will move to an organization-wide position focused on growth initiatives at the foodtech startup once Jha assumes his new role at Instamart.

According to a source familiar with Swiggy's plans, the company is currently seeking someone who has experience managing product categories for Instamart. However, finding individuals in the startup industry with this level of expertise is rare and Jha happens to be one of them.

According to the market report, Jha had been a senior vice president of category and marketplace in Flipkart for more than three years. He held several leadership positions with the ecommerce giant for almost 14 years. Before that, he worked with three companies from different industries totaling over six years of experience.

Taking over from Addepalli, who has served as CEO of Instamart for more than a year now, is the responsibility that awaits him. This comes after Karthik Gurumurthy resigned to embark on a sabbatical period.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Addepalli has been employed with Swiggy for almost ten years. He was recently promoted as a co-founder of the company in 2021 and previously held the position of CEO at Insanely Good, a subscription-based grocery delivery service that merged with Instamart earlier this year.

Earlier this month, the quick commerce arm hired Sairam Krishnamurthy as their senior vice president and chief operating officer (COO), resulting in this recent development.

Instamart, a top foodtech company, witnessed the resignations of two executives this year - Karan Arora, who served as Vice President and Head of Supply Chain Management; and Sidharth Satpathy, former Vice President at the leading food delivery giant-owned establishment.
