Razorpay Appoints Former Google Leader Prabhu Rambadran as SVP of Engineering

Fintech unicorn Razorpay has appointed Prabhu Rambadran as its Senior Vice President of Engineering, marking another step in its ongoing push to strengthen technology and innovation. Rambadran previously served as Head of Engineering at Google, where he led large-scale product development teams.

At Razorpay, Rambadran will oversee engineering across critical verticals such as payments, risk and intelligence, business banking, customer engagement, and infrastructure. His focus will be on accelerating AI-led product innovation and building future-ready systems to power the next phase of Razorpay’s growth.

Welcoming him to the leadership team, Shashank Kumar, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Razorpay, said, “His leadership will reinforce our tech foundation as we build AI-first platforms for the next decade of digital payments and banking”.

With more than 18 years of experience, Rambadran has worked with Microsoft and Nutanix across the US and India before joining Google. Razorpay has reported a 65% YoY revenue growth in FY25, reaching Rs 3,783 crore, driven by its expanding business banking and payments solutions. Backed by Peak XV Partners, Tiger Global, Lightspeed, and GIC, the company recently became a public entity after completing its reverse flip to India and invested $30 million in UPI app POP.
