Aims to strengthen India’s innovation and industrial ecosystem
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed more than 50 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with top companies such as ITC, Flipkart, Mercedes-Benz, Hero MotoCorp, boAt, and Ather Energy to strengthen India’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem.
The partnerships aim to help startups access manufacturing infrastructure, design facilities, and industry mentorship, fostering collaboration between established companies and emerging ventures. The initiative aligns with the government’s larger vision to make India a global hub for innovation-driven manufacturing.
According to officials, these collaborations will lead to the creation of manufacturing incubators, providing startups with shared infrastructure, pilot testing, and early-stage production support. This move will lower capital costs for startups while accelerating product development and prototyping.
Corporates, academic institutions, and research centers will be encouraged to set up these incubators under a multi-stakeholder model, ensuring sustained innovation and industrial growth. These hubs will also act as bridges between startups and major manufacturers, offering access to test beds, design centers, and supply chain networks.

DPIIT officials added that integrating large industry players into India’s startup ecosystem will provide much-needed market linkages and risk capital access. This step builds on the government’s ongoing efforts to boost the Make in India and Startup India missions through public-private collaboration.
