Raptee HV Secures Government Funding to Lead India Motorcycle Market
- Raptee.HV is the first Indian EV motorcycle maker funded by the Government’s TDB.
- Funding will boost Raptee.HV’s high voltage motorcycle technology.
- The startup targets leading India’s electric two wheeler market with car-level performance bikes.
Chennai based electric motorcycle startup Raptee.HV has made history by becoming the first electric vehicle (EV) motorcycle original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to receive strategic funding from the Technology Development Board (TDB), part of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. This funding recognizes Raptee.HV’s pioneering work in bringing high voltage car technology to two wheelers, marking a major breakthrough in electric mobility.
The fresh investment will allow Raptee.HV to accelerate the development of its proprietary high voltage technology, designed to deliver top tier performance in India’s growing electric motorcycle segment, estimated to be worth over USD 1 billion. The company has spent over six years building its technology from the ground up, rather than adapting existing platforms, setting a new benchmark for electric motorcycles in terms of power, reliability, and charging ease.
Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-Founder of Raptee.HV, said, “Getting this funding from TDB is a strong vote of confidence in our mission to revolutionize electric motorcycle performance. India lacked an ecosystem for high voltage two wheelers, so we built one ourselves through dedicated engineering. Support from TDB and previous grants from ARAI-AMTIF prove the government’s commitment to homegrown innovation”.

Raptee.HV joins an elite group of Indian innovators supported by TDB, including the likes of Tata and Bharat Biotech. The company’s success is especially significant as motorcycles make up nearly two-thirds of India’s two wheeler market, making electrification critical to the country’s 2030 goal of 30% electric vehicle penetration in this segment.
With this new backing, Raptee.HV is well positioned to lead India’s performance electric motorcycle revolution, offering riders powerful and reliable alternatives designed for the future.
