To empower Indian start-up ecosystem and the developer community, Ola’s Krutrim has announced a comprehensive roadmap and pricing strategy for its Ola Maps platform. In order to encourage innovation and data sovereignty within the nation, Krutrim has unveiled a collection of brand-new and potent APIs, feature-rich SDKs, and a pricing model that is lower than that of global giants like Google Maps.
According to a press release, Krutrim has introduced a highly competitive pricing model for Ola Maps in recognition of the need to make advanced mapping infrastructure available to the Indian ecosystem.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder of Krutrim says, "It's time we build world-class alternatives to big tech giants and empower Indian innovation”.
The company is providing 5 million free API calls per month, which should meet the needs of nearly all Indian start-ups. Ola Maps charges half of what Google Maps charges for larger orders, which provides users with exceptional value. In addition, Krutrim gives Ola Maps subscribers who stay with the service for at least three years free access for two years.
A three-year free access program for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) utilizing the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform has also been announced by the company. Ola Maps will be transformed into a comprehensive suite of location-based services and tools thanks to Krutrim’s ambitious roadmap.
Speaking to this, T Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC says, "ONDC welcomes Ola's initiative to offer Ola Maps free for three years to startups and SMBs registered with ONDC Network”.
The company is launching a number of new APIs with advanced features like traffic-aware directions, a transportation matrix with options for multiple modes of transportation, specialized routing for two-wheelers, and information about tolls.
Users will be able to use the ‘Places APIs’ to access detailed place information, perform searches based on natural language, and locate nearby locations.
In addition to the APIs, Krutrim is releasing feature-rich SDKs for the web, Android, and iOS platforms. With support for custom markers, interactive info windows, advanced visualization tools, and automatic localization into Indic languages, these SDKs will make it possible to seamlessly incorporate rich geographical data into applications.
