Highlight was popularly known as a people discovery app. It was also a breakout app of SXSW in the year 2012. The company has worked very hard to develop the app and to make it much more user friendly by providing constant updates to the app infrastructure, optimizing battery usage, introducing the apps in various new languages and also adding the feature of sending and receiving group messages to people nearby.

AppData reports that Highlight's app had 70,000 monthly active users in March and there were around 100,000 monthly active users in the month of August. The app gradually saw its downfall in the month of September when the user base measured around 90,000.

"The exciting thing for us and the people who first heard about us is the potential for the technology in this space; we are just a tiny fraction of a percent of what we hope to build,” says Paul Davison, founder of Highlight.
