World's Best Cricket Stadiums

Eden Gardens (India)

Renowned for its large and loud crowds, Eden Gardens is sometimes known as ‘cricket’s answer to the Colosseum’. Established in 1864, it was the second stadium to host a World Cup in Final, after Lord’s which hosted the previous three finals, i.e. 1975, 1979 and 1983. For Indians, cricket is like a religion and so far 82 International matches have been hosted here. The stadium has its own share of dramatic moments, when in 1996 World Cup Semifinals, the match was called off and awarded to Sri Lanka after the disturbances made by crowd after an Indian batting collapse. In addition, on its 150th anniversary, Rohit Sharma scored the highest ever score by a batsmen in One Day Internationals (264 runs off 173 balls against Sri Lanka).
