World's Best Cricket Stadiums

Melbourne Cricket Ground (Australia)

ODI cricket was born here, when in 1971, England and Australian Test Match was rained out for almost three days, thus captains of both teams agreed to play a 40-overs a side. MCG is the largest cricket stadium in the world with a capacity of over 100,000 and it holds the record for having the tallest light towers for any of the sporting venues in the world. The annual Boxing Day Test is the most popular events in MCG and has hosted two World Cup Finals in 1992 and 2015. One of the popular incidents of cricket happened here, as in 1981, the Australian Captain Greg Chappell asked his bowler Trevor Chappell to bowl underarm with an intention to deny New Zealand’s chance of hitting six and winning the match. However, the stadium attracted over 130,000 people in 1959 but it wasn’t cricket which brought the largest crowd at that time, but the American evangelist, Billy Graham.
