Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time winners of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have officially launched their jersey for the 2025 season, which will kick off on March 22. The team has kept its classic blue and gold color scheme, which represents trust, confidence, and unrelenting quest for glory.
"The jersey continues the legendary blue and gold color scheme emblematic of Mumbai Indians' spirit. Blue is trust, confidence, and limitless potential that the team possesses, and gold reflects glory, accomplishment, and incessant striving for excellence", MI announced in a statement.
Captain Hardik Pandya, who was back to lead MI in 2024, posted an emotional message for the fans, promising them the commitment of the team to restore its past glory. "Dear Paltan, 2025 is our chance to take the legacy where it is meant to be. Blue & gold on us, we will step onto the field to Play like Mumbai. This isn't just our jersey. This is a promise to you. Chala bhetu, Wankhede la (Let's meet at Wankhede)!" he declared.
MI, who are among the most successful sides in IPL history, had a poor 2024 season, ending at the bottom of the table with four wins from 14 games. Looking to stage a comeback, the Hardik-led team will start their 2025 season with a high-pressure encounter against bitter rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at Chepauk.
The season of IPL 2025 will open with reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens on March 22. The 74-game tournament will be held at 13 grounds and include 12 doubleheaders. The tournament is opening almost two weeks after the end of the ICC Champions Trophy on March 9.
With a newfound zeal and fresh beginning, Mumbai Indians will attempt to leave behind their previous shortcomings and pursue a record-breaking sixth IPL title.
