BCCI Announces Schedule for TATA IPL 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially declared the schedule of the 18th installment of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The long-awaited competition will get underway on March 22, 2025, and the last game will be the final on May 25, 2025. 74 games will be held in 13 stadiums with 12 double-headers set over the course of the season. Afternoon games will start at 3:30 PM IST, and evening games will start at 7:30 PM IST.
The opening weekend of the season will see Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the defending champions, face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The first double-header day will be played on March 23 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an afternoon match in Hyderabad and the big match in the evening between five-time time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will open their season against each other in Visakhapatnam on March 24. The world's largest stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will witness its first game of the season on March 25 when Gujarat Titans (GT) face Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Three teams, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Punjab Kings, will play home games in more than one venue. DC will play home matches in Visakhapatnam and at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. RR will host KKR and CSK in Guwahati before playing the rest of their home games at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. PBKS will divide their home matches between the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh (four games) and the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala (three games against LSG, DC, and MI).
The playoff matches will be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata. Qualifier 1 on May 20 and the Eliminator on May 21 will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The scenes will then shift to Eden Gardens, Kolkata, as Qualifier 2 will be hosted there on May 23. The TATA IPL 2025 finale is planned for May 25.
