Kerala: The Green Theory Widely Accepted

Where Urban Styles & Imperishable Customs are Respected Equally

Keralites are better at living a life that is uncomplicated and they always stick on to customs, traditions, rituals, practices and the religious beliefs. Generally simple and down to earth, Keralites are often well aware in terms of cleanliness, healthcare and physical quality of life. People in Kerala speak ‘Malayalam’, their mother tongue, but most of them are conversant in English. Women dress up in traditional unique outfit called ‘Set Mundu’ which needs that extra draping skills as it looks somewhat similar to a sari worn over a blouse, whereas men wear white ‘mundu’ with a shirt. They also value their traditional festivals such as Onam, Pooram, Vishu by celebrating with the whole family.

Education as a Necessity since Centuries

The state is famous for being the most literate in the country. As per the history books, it was during the early decades of 19th Century, the Church Mission Society brought the mass education in Kerala. It was St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara who started a system ‘A school along with every church’ to make education accessible for rich and poor. The high literacy rate also helped the state to pass on the education to the next generation as it heavily believed that ‘When a woman is educated, she makes sure that her children are also educated in a good manner’.

In 2016, Kerala became the first Indian state to achieve 100 percent primary education with its literacy programme ‘Athulyam’. Schools in Kerala are affiliated with ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education), CBSE (Central Board for Secondary Education) or KSEC (Kerala State Education Board). Also, the colleges and schools are mostly run by the government, private trusts, or individuals. English is the language used in most of the private schools whereas Government schools provide English or Malayalam as the medium of instruction.

God’s Place on Earth

With so much that it embraces, no wonder the state is termed as God’s own Country while it attracts tourists from within and across the borders for family vacays, corporate trips, honeymoon and more. When it comes to Kerala, there is much more than meets the eye. Plan a trip to witness the beautiful nature beauty that embodies this State.
