Revealed: Sonia Gandhi Outranked Queen Elizabeth II as World's Richest Leader


Bangalore: Indian political biggies and Congress president, Sonia Gandhi is not just a successful political leader but also one the richest leader in the world who even outranked Queen Elizabeth II, Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said and Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. With $2 billion wealth, Sonia Gandhi is the 12th richest political leader in the world, reports Huffington Post.

According to the website of National Election commission, Sonia Gandhi has assets worth 1.38 crore and neither owns a car nor has a house in India. But, she owns an ancestral house in Italy, which has an estimated market value of 18.05 lakh.

The UPA chairperson has 75,000 in cash and deposit of over 28.61 lakh in UCO bank, as per the affidavit filed by her before the district electoral officer during the filing of nomination for the Lok Sabha election in 2009.

Note: According to Huffington Post, Sonia Gandhi has been removed from the rich list as she was originally included based on a listing on a third party site which was subsequently called into question.
