Actress turned politician, Jayalalitha, the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is a beauty with brains. She got a scholarship to continue her studies after matriculation but she declined to pursue her career as an actress. Before venturing into politics, Jayalalitha was a popular film star in Indian cinema.  She has appeared as main female lead heroine in over 140 films including Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada and also worked in one Hindi film. She is the first woman political leader in Tamil Nadu from opposition party. Many a times, she was a Chief Minister on and off and a strong competitor with the DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi.
