Delhi
Delhi shows a literacy rate of 86.34 percent which puts it on the fifth spot of the metro list. With 16.3 million population it is the second highest populated cities of India after Mumbai. Further, with the need for  better education the government of India has formulated several committees and NGOs which utilize the funds provided by the government to improve the literacy rate. Delhi is a major center for education and as the national capital it attracts students from all parts of North India. The quality of education is quite high and the medium used is English and Hindi.
With the increased efforts of the government of India to improve the literacy front, it is working on setting up new institutions for all educational levels, upgrading the infrastructure and launching special programs to improve the quality of education. In India anyone who can read, write, listen, understand and speak a language is a literate. However this does seem too little in front of the innumerable quantity of knowledge and educational structure that’s available in the world, but it does make a person capable and independent to function in our country.
