1. Traditional Brass and Copper Craft of Utensil Making Of Punjab

The craft of Thathera’s of Jandiala Guru of Punjab has the traditional technique of manufacturing brass and copper utensils. ‘Thantheras’ are the group of people who have been diligently working on the art to keep the form alive. Significance of Thathera craft is both in its utility and ritual. Consuming food in copper and brass is highly recommended in Ayurveda. The reason why the sale of these products is going down is probably the time consuming maintenance of these utensils. However its recognition by the UNESCO might change the tide after all.

2. Kalbelia Folk Dance of Rajasthan

Commonly known as the ‘sapera dance’ or the snake charmer’s dance, among the Kalbelia tribes of Rajasthan. Dance is the integral part of the Kalbelia tribes who move from place to place and live in the outskirts of the towns. Their main occupation is to catch snakes and trade venom and dance is their form of celebration on any joyous occasion. Men and women of the tribes dance to the rhythm of ‘poongi’, a musical instrument used by the snake charmers. However they also practice alternative medicine as they have knowledge about the values of local flora and fauna.
