Telangana Partners with IIFA to Showcase Indian Cinema Globally

• Telangana inks multi-year deal with IIFA to host IIFA Utsavam and promote the state globally

The Telangana government has partnered with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) in a landmark multi-year deal to position the state as a global hub for culture and creativity. Announced at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, the collaboration is set to leverage the star power of Indian cinema to showcase Telangana worldwide.

Under the agreement, IIFA will promote Telangana during the 26th IIFA Awards in 2026, while Hyderabad will host IIFA Utsavam from 2026 to 2028, celebrating Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. The event, broadcast to over 120 countries and reaching 2.5 billion viewers, is expected to attract international tourists, filmmakers, and investors.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the partnership as a transformative step in cultural diplomacy. “Through IIFA 2026, we will take the story of Telangana to the world, and by hosting IIFA Utsavam for three consecutive years, we aim to cement Hyderabad as the cultural capital of South India and a rising global hub for film-led tourism and the creative economy”, he said.

The collaboration aligns with the state’s broader vision to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034. It combines culture, cinema, and economic growth, creating opportunities for investment while strengthening Telangana’s global presence.

“This partnership marks a defining milestone in India’s cultural diplomacy, where cinema bridges Telangana with the world”, Reddy added, inviting global partners and stakeholders to engage with the state’s creative and economic journey.
