Renowned Tamil music composer Sam C S, celebrated for his powerful scores in numerous superhit films, is now making headlines with his foray into international cinema. In a conversation with IANS, the composer confirmed that he is scoring music for an upcoming South Korean film, marking yet another milestone in his dynamic career.
"Yes, I am scoring music for a South Korean film as well. They approached me after listening to my background score for Saani Kayidham, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Selvaraghavan and Keerthy Suresh", said Sam.
This is not the composer’s first international project. In 2022, he scored the music for a Vietnamese film, a project that came his way through renowned stunt choreographer Peter Hein.
Now, Sam C S is also set to play a pivotal role in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU), an ambitious animation franchise consisting of seven films to be released over the next decade. He has been selected to compose the music for the first instalment, Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar.
Kumar, who has a strong background in music himself, shared how he chose Sam after being deeply moved by the soundtrack of the Tamil film Jada. "I have studied music and considered several composers. But after listening to the OST of Jada, I was completely mesmerized. I knew instantly that Sam was the one for this project”, said Ashwin Kumar.
The scale of the Mahavatar project is vast, requiring a global musical palette. "This film demands a wide musical spectrum from orchestral arrangements to shastric (classical Indian) compositions, and even modern film music. We are using Digi2 from Australia and blending multiple genres. Sam grasped this vision immediately", the director added.
With these new projects, Sam C S continues to expand his creative boundaries and global footprint, reinforcing his reputation as one of India’s most versatile and sought-after music composers.
