He made his directorial debut in 2010 with the romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys, followed by Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013), and later directed Student of the Year 2 in 2019, featuring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria, and Ananya Panday.
Coming from a family deeply rooted in Bollywood, Punit is related to directors Suneel and Dharmesh Darshan, and renowned filmmaker David Dhawan. He also shares a close bond with fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who styled his debut film.
