Los Angeles: National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut is ready to enter Hollywood, as she has received her first starring role in the horror drama "Blessed Be the Evil."

As per the synopsis, the movie is about a Christian couple who, following a tragic miscarriage, buy an old farm with a haunted past. Their love and faith are soon put to test by an evil force.

The Lions Movies project will feature Kangana along with "Teen Wolf" actor Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, variety.com reports.

Production will start this summer in New York, where producers aimedly mentioned they opted for U.S. locations to "avoid running into any uncertainties arising from the just-announced Trump industry tariffs."

Director Anurag Rudra, whose last film was Tailing Pond, will direct from a script he co-wrote with Lions Movies president and founder Gatha Tiwary.

"Growing up and having my childhood in rural India, I heard stories that got imprinted in my heart and mind," Rudra explained.

Rudra continued: "This folklore was so precious that I really believed in all the stories, and wanted to present them globally through the art of cinema – the strongest and most stunning way to connect with dreams and reality."

Tiwary revealed: "A tale like 'Blessed Be The Evil' is quite rare. Lions Movies has built a spine-tingling tale with unparalleled suspense and drama. It also possesses tremendous potential in international markets, both in terms of streaming and selling."

Ranaut contributes significant star power to the endeavour. She is not only an award-winning actor with four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards, but also a director and politician serving as a Member of Parliament in India's Lok Sabha at the moment.

Her directorial feature "Emergency," where she played Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, got global theatrical release earlier this year.

Posey, who emerged as the lead in MTV's "Teen Wolf" series and follow-up revival film, has had earlier forays into horror in "Truth or Dare." Stallone, Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin's daughter, was seen in crime comedy "Reach Me" and more recently in "The Gunslingers" with Nicolas Cage.
