AI data cloud company Snowflake is betting big on India, calling it a 'land of opportunities' for data and artificial intelligence. The firm is scaling up its investments and workforce in the country to tap into the growing market potential, according to Vijayant Rai, Managing Director for India.
Snowflake aims to expand its headcount to over 700 employees by the end of 2025 as part of its growth strategy. The company recently opened a new office in Mumbai and plans to expand its Bengaluru operations by August 2025. These hubs will support teams across sales, operations, solutions engineering, marketing, and the Pune-based Centre of Excellence (CoE), which is Snowflake’s only such facility in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region.
“Snowflake is doubling down on India as an investment destination. We are committed to serving the Indian market, supporting global customers from here, and investing in AI and skill development", Rai said.
India also plays a central role in Snowflake’s partner ecosystem. Nearly 50 percent of its APJ partner network is based in India, including top firms such as Deloitte, EY, LTIMindtree, TCS, AWS, and Microsoft.
Snowflake already serves leading Indian customers such as Piramal Finance, Godrej Capital, Bajaj General Insurance, Swiggy, and Urban Company. Looking ahead, the company sees strong opportunities across financial services, SMEs, digital-native companies, manufacturing, and the public sector.
The public sector, in particular, has emerged as a major focus. Snowflake has set up dedicated resources in Delhi this year to build its public sector business and is actively working with government organizations.
“With India’s growing data economy, there is massive headroom for Snowflake and others in this space to expand. We are absolutely committed to India for the long term”, Rai added.
