Crocs: A fad turned bad
It is rubber slippers that some people are found of but some hate it. It showed signs of reaching the cult status as it was sold on the basis of word of mouth since the people who wore them told others the reasons why they liked it and then the circle went on. And the word was spread and the sales rocketed. But soon their competitors started manufacturing the imitation of it and the Crocs faced problem in 2007-08 as their stocks went below $5 from $70. The company couldn’t become that successful because they were not able to roll out extensions of their popular product and they got associated with the clog shoe and also started up with apparel but didn’t receive much luck. The investors, who invested into the company thinking that it was a long term cult company, were the sufferers.
