Let's be Good Listeners
Christo Jacob
Tuesday, July 2, 2013
I was extremely fortunate to have grown up listening to folktales and family history from my grandparents and parents, a tradition which you can hardly find these days among families. Since then I was always inquisitive while the narration of the story to know ‘what next?’ I can proudly say that even now I am lucky to hear tales, but not folktales rather real life success stories behind each successful company, when I meet each entrepreneur in the Valley.
Since the beginning of my career, I had the opportunity to interact with many entrepreneurs both in the U.S. and India. It’s quite heartening to hear each one’s story — different from each other’s because their passion, vision and energy are so varied. Probably being a good listener, you always get to learn new things and will have some “key take aways” from each story.

Accidental pivots are a known phenomenon in the Silicon Valley. The cover story this issue introduces you to the young and dynamic company Instart Logic which has pioneered a radical technology approach addressing the challenge of rich web content delivery. The story follows the journey of Manav Mital, CEO; Raghu Venkat, Chief Product Officer and Hariharan Kolam, CTO through the course of them trying to build a company to publish really cool games online and accidentally creating an entirely new technology – the world’s first Web Application Streaming Network and thus building a product which possesses the capability of disrupting the massive CDN sector.

Embodying the spirit of the phrase 'when the going gets tough, the tough gets going' is the Company of the Month — IDC Technologies, a premier technology services organization with primary focus in IT services. Headed by dynamic Prateek Gattani, CEO, the company was resurrected by him in 2007 and today is a 1000 people strong, known name in North America. Read about how Gattani is conquering market after market and aims to become a $150 million company in the years to come.

We have one more compelling story of Chandra Bodapati, Founder & CEO, eGrabber. This entrepreneurial evangelist and philanthropist, describes his silicon-valley journey and his metaphoric mantra of “selling pickaxes during a gold rush” has landed his company e-Grabber, the leader in automated list building tools for B2B sales & recruiting, great success. You can observe varying passion, vision and energy in all of them.
This issue let us be good listeners and read these exciting entrepreneurial journeys and also learn from them.
