Ambika Tiku, a passionate sitar player and avid reader, recently took charge as the Business Director and Market Lead for India at Starcom IP. Ambika has over nine years of experience in Digital Marketing, Strategy, Creative Technology, and Media and prior to Starcom she has worked with various print and digital media houses such as Asian Age, Indian Express, Sony Entertainment, Mediaturf, and recently Lowe India. As Business Director at Starcom IP, Ambika will handle the company’s India operations with a special emphasis on marketing. “At Lowe India, my role involved more of media planning. So, I was fascinated by Starcom IP’s vision of creating digital connections that captivate people. In my current role, I will focus on increasing our customer base by offering consultative digital solutions approach rather than cookie-cutter answers. Our digital solutions will help advertisers grow their business by reaching their target audience in an innovative manner,” states Ambika.

Currently she will handle a team of 12 and since most of her team is fairly new, her biggest challenge is to ‘put her acts together and deliver on time’. Ambika is a great believer in people. Put in simple words, she believes in people management and not HR management. To her, leadership means mentoring and constantly ensuring that one’s vision and that of his team is the same. She advises budding professionals that the key to become a successful leader is to never stop learning. Ambika is an M.B.A. in marketing and advertising from the University of Nottingham with emphasis on business ethics. She also holds an M.Sc. in Physics and has done a short course in journalism.
