"As the current recession takes a big toll on Indian IT companies, slashing down the unnecessary expenses and simplifying the complex projects are the needs of the hour," asserts Neville Roy Singham, Founder of ThoughtWorks.

Sticking on to the 'lean approach' in product or solution development, which is all about compressing the development cycles, was the crux of the thought emerged at a panel discussion on 'Lean For Lean Times: Delivering More With Less at ThoughtWorks' Agile Business Series.

As the recession heat is on, one has to adopt an approach of building on scarcity and not on abundance. Maintenance of manpower is another area where a company has to be really lean as it needs to make sure that it has only good talents on board. In this way, all the under skilled laborers will be considered as company waste.

Apart from Neville Roy Singham, Jagdish Ramaswamy, Corporate VP, Mission Quality, Wipro, K.B Unni, MD, Seven Hat Consulting, and Ranga Shetty, Sr Director, Engineering, Yahoo! also spoke about methodologies like Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizans & Software Engineering processes.
