Indus Appstore Hits 1 Million Installs in One Month: PhonePe
PhonePe's Indus Appstore for Android devices has surged past 1 million installations within just a month of its launch, marking a significant milestone for the company. This remarkable feat was announced on March 18, highlighting the rapid adoption of the home-grown app store. Notably, 45 percent of the user base originates from Tier 2 cities, underscoring the widespread appeal of the Indus Appstore beyond major urban centers.
The success of the Indus Appstore can be attributed to its availability in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, among others. This linguistic diversity has evidently resonated with users across various regions, contributing to the app store's popularity.
Akash Dongre, Co-Founder and CPO of Indus Appstore, expressed pride in the team's dedication and hard work, emphasizing their commitment to continuously enhancing the app store experience for both developers and consumers. Dongre affirmed the company's dedication to innovation, announcing plans to roll out new updates every 10 days. Among the upcoming features are video-led app discovery and voice search, aimed at further enriching the user experience.
In addition to user-focused enhancements, the company is prioritizing support for app developers. Plans are underway to introduce enhanced merchandising tools and video-based app promotion opportunities, empowering developers to showcase their creations effectively.
Indus Appstore has already forged partnerships with prominent OEM makers such as Nokia and LAVA, with discussions ongoing with several other major smartphone manufacturers. These partnerships are integral to the company's ambitious goal of achieving pre-installation on 250-300 million devices by the year's end. Leveraging collaborations with smartphone manufacturers will be pivotal in realizing this target, underscoring the strategic importance of these alliances.
As PhonePe's Indus Appstore continues to gain traction and expand its user base, the company remains optimistic about the future of app discovery in India. With a strong focus on innovation and partnerships, Indus Appstore is poised to redefine the app ecosystem and cater to the evolving needs of Indian consumers and developers alike.
