The glass vase, found at a house in Morpeth, has become the most expensive work of art sold in the North East, according to an auctioneer.

A glass vase of 16cm (six-and-a-quarter inch) artwork, found at a house in Morpeth which features two winged female nudes with outstretched arms sold for just more than $454,000 to a private collector from U.S.

Julian Thomson, Director at Anderson and Garland said, “Prior to the sale of the Lalique, the most expensive work of art ever sold in the region was an Imperial Kangxi celadon water pot that went for £270,000”, as quoted by BBC.

8. A Ming Dynasty Moonflask

Sold For - $1.3 Million

A Ming Dynasty moonflask, a very rare blue and white one, which was previously used as a doorstop in Long Island, was sold for $1.314 million at auction. It was estimated to be sold for only $900,000, but it fetched much more than this. This moonflask cum doorstop has cobalt blue coloring on a porcelain white base.
