This is said to be the most expensive item sold ever from Brooke Astor's estate. This painting by John Frederick Lewis, was sold as part of late socialite Brooke Astor's estate, was sold for $1.594 million. This painting is titled as “A Memlock Bey, Egyot” and it belongs to 1868.

10. A South African Buffalo

This is the weirdest auction of all. This young South African buffalo bull with massive bowed horns was sold for $3.25 million. Jacques Malan bought this 4 years and 10 months old bull which has now become the most expensive wild animal ever sold.

"My main purpose is to breed back the old giants of the bush of Africa which have been hunted out over past centuries. Genetics (selection) stay the same, the principles stay the same, and I have applied it to wildlife as well as cattle and the flowers I produce," said Malan, as quoted by Huffingtonpost.
