World's 10 Best Women-Friendly Companies 2014



AstraZeneca: The global pharmaceuticals company engaged in research and development of prescription medicines takes the issue of inclusiveness seriously. It runs wellness programs for female employees, provides mentoring facility and flexible working hours for women. The company has an on-site childcare program, where women employees can bring their children either for day care or post school care. They run a program named Success Circles, which focuses on imparting leadership skills to women employees. The company has more female employees than male employees with women constituting 54 percent of the workforce. 40 percent women occupy senior management positions.

General Mills: The American manufacturer of food products conducts various programs to support women employees, such as the Women in Leadership program, where women employees interact with senior management of the company; the Women’s Forum Offsite, which arranges a meeting of senior level female employees attended by the CEO and other senior leaders of the company. The company has 40 percent women in its workforce and women employees fill up 39 percent of senior management position of the company.  Female leaders head 50 percent of billion dollar divisions. Among those, who directly report to the CEO, 9 percent are women.
