While Apple Embraces India, Google Turns Its Back

Kiran Kumar, a senior market research analyst with IDC says that with Apple taking the right steps towards India, more iPhones are reaching the consumer market gearing the company towards good competition.

Apple’s seriousness towards India is also seen in the launch of its iTune store for the country, enabling consumers to directly buy and consume music, videos and books from iPhones and iPads. This is in contrast to Google Play store which is yet to launch in India, despite a high number of Android users who can make use of it.

However Apple seems to do well anyway. With its focus towards India, it is found that iPhones are not only available in large electronic stores. Local shops are selling them too. According to a local dealer in Delhi, 50 to 60 iPhones are sold every month.

With dynamic choices at hand, Apple seems to be adapting its retail game for a longer period.  Also Kumar believes that Google may catch up slowly after testing how consumers accept the device in other countries.
