India’s renewable energy sources were very underdeveloped in comparison with other countries. However, the rise in this sector has been phenomenal for India.

In the Renewable Energy Expo 2012, India was placed in the fourth place.

India’s renewable energy capacity has crossed 26,000 MW. The major source of this energy is the wind and only 4 percent of this energy comes from the solar panels.

India’s score in the recent expo were as follows: All renewables: 64.1, Wind index: 64, Solar index: 66.

Germany

Germany has shown tremendous progress in its renewable energy. In 2000, Germany produced 6.3 percent of its electricity from renewable energy but by the mid 2012, this figure rose to 25 percent.

In 2010, Germany’s renewable energy was 101.7 TWH which included 36.5 TWH from wind power, 33.5 TWH from biomass, 19.7 TWH from Hydro sources and 12 TWH from photovoltaic power.

Germany got the third rank in the Renewable Energy Expo 2012. Germany scored a total of 66 points.
