Gmail raised as a hit and Google TV let down as a miss
Gmail started in 2004, and like Google+, the search giant started its free email service. As a result, an invite to Gmail was a hot commodity, as users clamored to try out the layered email interface and huge amounts of storage. Gmail has become a staple among the free, web based email offerings. Google has also incorporated a variety of its other products into Gmail, including chat, Google Voice, and offline access. However, when Google unveiled Google TV in May 2010 with partners like Sony, Intel, and Logitech after a demo it failed to satisfy consumers needs. Logitech dropped the price of its Google TV enabled Revue device to $99 (from $299 at launch). Logitech customers were returning more Revues than they were buying, later it was clarified as that was not the case.
