Reason for Failure: Arrival of Blu-Ray Technology
In the short span of two years, 2006-2008, Toshiba’s HD DVD’s swept the multi-media market off its feet all around the world. The idea behind launch of this technology, i.e. making HD videos available in market for reasonable price, was quiet commendable. If Sony wouldn’t have launched the Blu-ray technology in late 2008, these HD-DVDs might still be the big thing in the market. With the advent of internet TV and peoples drowning interest in collecting videos, it is quiet expected that Blu-ray is moving towards a similar future.
