Reason for Failure: It is not always good to be able to smell what you see on TV
3D TV is probably the closest the world has got in terms of successful execution of interactive Television. Plasma, Projection and LCDs, T.V manufacturers have tried everything possible to drag the attention of the buyer. Smell-o-vision was one of those attempts to make watching TV more fun. This TV could release odor relevant to the scene or video you were watching on TV. Sounds amazing, isn’t it. Yes, it is great if you could smell the scent of the beautiful valley shown in the travel channels or the yummy cakes in the cooking shows. But thinking again, what if you are watching a gruesome murder scene with stains of blood all around or a documentary on slums around the world. It wouldn’t be so nice smell every thing you see on TV would it?
