They recently invested close to $20 million in BookMyShow (largest online platform for movie and events tickets) apart from investing in Digital Media, Education, Healthcare, Gaming (Angry Birds) and e-commerce. Some of their companies which went IPO are Facebook, Trulia (real estate search) and Brightcove (SaaS Video Company). Apart from funding, Accel help startups grow by conducting informative events. Prayank Swaroop of Accel advices entrepreneurs to do a thorough research on the investor and on his background, before approaching him.
IDG Ventures (Venkatesh Peddi) – Venkatesh Peddi, Asst. VP at IDG says, “Pricipals and Associates in a VC firm are the team which works with the partners to run the overall fund right from evaluating the opportunity to managing the investments. Essentially they are the people who support the partners in executing the fund and the fund strategy.” He adds that IDG invests in early stage of companies typically Series A and Series B between $2-8 million.
