Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda is known all over the world for his famous and inspiring speech during the World’s Religious meet at Chicago, where he introduced Hindu philosophy to the west. He preached to the people how a nation with such a vast diversity stays united, by the feeling of humanity and Brotherhood.

He preached the Hindu scriptures and philosophy to the western world. He stressed to the world that in spite of India being strongly affected by poverty and backwardness, they still make it up in the form of their rich culture and diversity.

Swami Vivekananda is a name he was given after taking up brotherhood. Narendranath Dutta was his orginal name and his parents called him 'Bile'. He was blessed with good knowledge from a very young age and is also a highly educated individual. Vivekananda travelled around the world and was deeply hurt by seeing the sufferings and cruelty people were facing. He started missionaries which focused on upliftment of the poor, women rights and importance of education.

Vivekananda founded one of the world’s largest charitable missions, the Ramakrishna Mission.
