Medha Patkar is a well renowned social activist who is admired by many global leaders and people all over the world. As a social activist, she is part of many good causes. She is known for her active participation in Narmada bachao Andolan, Lavasa project and fight against corruption with Anna Hazare. She believes in non-violence and is a strong follower of Ahimsa.

She was born on 1st December 1954 in Mumbai. Being born in a family were politics and social works were a routine, she developed a keen interest in social works right from her young age.

She has dedicated her life for the betterment of the people and environment. She is still an active member in many protests and has resisted all hurdles throughout her life which came her way. She received the Green Ribon Award for Best International Political Campaigner by BBCaward and many more awards for her service.
