Arvind Kejriwal: The 45 year-old social worker turned politician Arvind Kejriwal is one such politicians who have been a terrific newsmakers in this election. This new, highly educated and respected civil society-backed opponent and his party have made the 2014 elections much more interesting. Kejriwal, who defeated Congress’ three-time chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the Delhi legislative elections, last year, hopes to break the country’s two big parties—Congress-BJP cycle.

But in the process of the LS polls, he was frequently attacked while campaigning for the general election. Kejriwal was slapped by an auto-rickshaw driver in Sultanpuri in north-west Delhi and was even punched.
With the poll results, Kejriwal decisively beaten by Narendra Modi in Varanasi, said he is disappointed with his party's result in Delhi, where it did not win even a single of the seven parliamentary seats.
