Octa-core Processors Are "Dumb": Qualcomm

"When you can't engineer a product that meets the consumers' expectations, maybe that's when you resort to simply throwing cores together," he said. And when he was asked if Qualcomm would one day launch its own octa-core processor, "We don't do dumb things," and added, "That's a dumb way to do it, and I think our engineers aren't dumb."

He took a pot shot at MediaTek, the company that claims to have come up with world’s first “true” octa-core processor, saying that it did not work on what consumers wanted, and instead had resorted to "throwing spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks."

MediaTek retorted saying that its octa-core processor was just on one of the company's latest breakthroughs in technology and innovation and added that, it has closer market ties than its competitors, and so it releases processors that meet consumer needs.
