Most Tragic Rail Accidents in India

The Mathura-Kasganj Express crash took away lives of 49 people when the train collided with a passenger bus. The accident occurred near the town of Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh at an unmanned railway crossing. The train hit the bus at 70mp/h, slicing it out into two where one part of the bus was dragged along on the railway track. All the bus passengers died as a result of this disastrous crash and 29 were seriously injured.

September 10, 2002

The luxurious Rajdhani train derailed on a 300-foot bridge over the Dhave River near the town of Rafiganj in Bihar. The train had 1,000 people on board when it was heading towards New Delhi from Howrah. About 130 were feared dead and over 150 people were injured in this train accident. The Rafiganj train disaster made many its victims because of the weak bridge which it was passing through.
