Ellison traded Oracle software for a few Israeli jets: The news was false but it’s true that Oracle was once offered a couple of jets by Israeli Aircraft Industries in exchange for software. Larry had turned the offer down. In the foot notes written by him in the biography, Softwar, Ellison wrote “The deal was proposed and passed to me for approval. I did not approve the deal and it never happened." Yes, even in an authoritative biography, Ellison had to get the last word in by writing ‘footnotes’.

Larry, a college dropout, called Yale graduates 'losers': Though not true, this was another absurd story. The Yale Loser speech was a trumped-up story made up by a writer on a website. In that widely circulated piece of fiction, Ellison who gave a commencement speech said “Please, take a good look around you. Look at the classmate on your left. Look at the classmate on your right. Now, consider this: 5 years from now, 10 years from now, even 30 thirty years from now; odds are the person on your left is going to be a loser. The person on your right, meanwhile, will also be a loser. And you, in the middle? What can you expect? Loser. Loserhood. Loser Cum Laude.”

Ellison who actually never spoke to Yale's graduating class of 2000 makes us wonder what he would have said had he given that speech.
