Larry signs his checks with a green pen because it's the color of money: This is rather fascinating. When asked about this, Ellison cracked that green had always been his favorite color, having nothing to do with money. The interesting part is, if you ever happen to receive a check from Ellison in green ink, it's a good idea to cash it.

He once snooped through Microsoft's garbage: This is true, kind of. Not exactly Ellison's hands went through the garbage and the trash wasn't technically Microsoft's. Oracle had hired private investigators to sift through the trash of a research group that the company suspected of being funded by Microsoft, during their antitrust trial.  Larry at a press conference said "It's absolutely true we set out to expose Microsoft's covert activities."  "I feel very good about what we did.… Maybe our investigation organization may have done things unsavory, but it's not illegal. We got the truth out."
