Facebook To Buy Titan Aerospace, Aims At Well Connected World


On to realizing its dream, last year Facebook partnered with tech giants such as Qualcomm, Samsung and Nokia, aiming to connect more than 5 billion of the world's 7 billion people who are not already online. Another such attempt by the social networking giant was the acquisition of Onavo which could also fit with the goal of Internet.org. Onavo creates data compression technology that helps the application to run smoothly. This is most significant in developing countries, where users have very slow internet speed.

At the recent World Congress wireless show Zuckerberg stated that internet access points are not the main barrier for getting world online. He said above 80 percent of the residents live in the areas with 2G or 3G wireless access points. He added that the most significant deed is to providing people with a reason for connection: basic financial services, access to health care details and educational materials, reports Times of India.

Google, who is not the patron of Internet.org, also started a similar task with the intention of holding everyone on Earth online. Called Project Loon launched Internet-beaming antennas aloft on big helium balloons
