Delhiites' Are the Richest in India

Report’s national data for MPCE in urban areas is 1,984 for 2010, which was 2,078 for Delhi in 2008. “The monthly per capita expenditure of Delhiites signifies the prevalence of relatively better levels of living standards in Delhi as compared to other states,” Sheila Dikshit said.

The reports states that the MPCE of 51 percent of the Delhiites is 2,501 and above, 46 percent is 1,001-2,500, and 3 percent is below 100. Himachal Pradesh and Haryana is said to be the follower urban areas with highest MPCE of 2,654 and 2,321.

The details of the expenditure pattern and food habit states that Delhiites are said to have an average spent of 1,014 on food articles monthly, where major amount of 277 is spent on Milk and Milk products followed by 198 on beverages and refreshments and 159 on cereals. The monthly per capita expenses on non-food items is 1,796.57.
