Meanwhile, media has been reporting that SIT has given a clean chit to Modi as it finds no prosecutable evidence about him. Zakia Jafri had approached the apex court in 2008 demanding an investigation against Narendra Modi. Ehsan Jafri was killed during the 2002 Gujarat riots. The Supreme Court refused to pass a ruling on Modi and directed the concerned Magistrate of Ahmedabad to decide the case on the basis of the SIT's report. The Supreme Court directed the SIT, headed by former CBI chief RK Raghavan, to investigate the charges of conspiracy against Modi. SIT has reportedly submitted the report to the metropolitan court in a sealed cover last week. In a major setback to the suspended police officer Sanjiv Bhatt's allegations, the controversial SIT report has reportedly found no substantial evidence to suspect that Modi had ordered rioters to be given a free hand.
